ECO-INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR MITIGATING GASEOUS EMISSIONS FROM WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEMS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 15 › Nr. 3 The study aims to identify important challenges that the practitioners and researchers in wastewater collection systems are facing
in order to reduce the emissions of hydrogen sulphide and greenhouse gas emissions. Based on literature review, it identifies the
main technologies used for avoiding and removing odorous compounds from wastewater gas streams. The paper also highlights
issues pertaining to the emission and biofiltration of hydrogen sulphide, methane and nitrous oxide from sewage co... Autori: Iulia Carmen Ciobotici Terryn ISSN: 1843 - 3707 http://www.ecozone.ro/reviste.php?RID=26984
MITIGATION OF HAZARDOUS AIR POLLUTANT EMISSIONS: VACUUM vs. CONVENTIONAL SEWER SYSTEM
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 16 › Nr. 4 The efforts to quantify gas emissions from wastewater handling have omitted the conveyance along sewers, lift stations, and
manholes. This article compared the conventional system with the vacuum system based on sewer gas emissions. The goal of the study was to determine the emissions of methane, hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide at the level of the wet-wells of the conventional system and the exhaust of the vacuum system before and after the bio-filtration process by way of... TOLUENE BIOFILTRATION AS AFFECTED BY RYEGRASS ROOTS
Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 17 › Nr. 8 Gaseous toluene biofiltration as affected by ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) roots was investigated in this study. The results revealed that the populations of bacteria, actinomycetes were larger in the ryegrass rhizosphere than in the bulk soil since ryegrass provided root exudates as major nutrients available for the microorganisms. An increase in the microbial populations in a ryegrass-growing biofilter would significantly stimulate toluene biodegradation in comparison with a vegetation-free bio...
