Abstract:
The HIV/AIDS infection in a worldwide health problem and in the age of HAART is a global issue, its distribution being a global
public health problem addressed by the Millennium Development Goals.
Today, patients have a high life span and life hope, due to performing drug associations. Unfortunately, these associations lead,
after a long term use, to unpleasant side effects on various organic systems. The paper reviewed the scientific literature on side
effects on the lipid metabolism and also on the cardiovascular system, as well as on retroviral therapy. The global value of the
cholesterol and triglycerides, as well as risk behaviors and personal pathological load, can lead to a score of the risk factor for
major heart attack. The awareness of lipid metabolism changes, in risk patient through HAART therapy in HIV infections, can
help identify the proper moment for hypolipemiant therapeutic intervention.
