Iron containing anionic clays supported with iron and cerium oxides as catalyst precursors for NOx reduction Autori: Gabriela Carja, Sofronia Dranca, Elena Husanu, Irina VolfData aparitiei: May/June 2009 Revista: Environmental Engineering and Management Journal › Vol. 8 › Nr. 3 ISSN: 1843 - 3707 ![]() Abstract
A facile and straightforward synthesis route, based on the anionic clay structural memory effect??, has been used to obtain Fe2O3 or CeO2 supported on iron substituted hydrotalcite-like clay (FeLDH). The surface properties of the metal oxide / anionic clay ensembles were studies by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). After calcination at 550°C the derived mixed oxides were tested as new catalysts in the process of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx using NH3 as a reductant. The presence of the cerium oxide on the surface of FeLDH improves the catalyst performance in the low temperature range. For the iron oxide supported on the iron substituted hydrotalcite-like clay superior values of NO conversion are obtained for the temperature values within the range (250 - 425)°C. The metal oxides / LDHs formulations can be used to develop further applications in environmental catalysis.
